About Our Fellowships

The Emory Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics offers certificate fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Fellowship opportunities are also available in the Department for obstetrician-gynecologists who desire more in-depth training in family planning or pelvic surgery.

The focus in each of these competitive fellowship programs is to help trainees gain the knowledge, skills, and experience to become clinical experts in their specialty and productive investigators in the field of women's health.

Certificate Programs

 Maternal-Fetal Medicine

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship prepares graduates of residencies in obstetrics and gynecology for a lifelong academic career in clinical perinatology (the management of medical, surgical and obstetrical complications of pregnancy and high-risk pregnancies), teaching/education and research.

The three-year fellowship accepts one fellow annually.

Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility

The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship trains obstetrician-gynecologists in reproductive endocrinology and infertility with an emphasis on academic career development. The course of study includes clinical experience in pediatric and adult gynecological endocrinology, medical and surgical treatment of infertility, advanced reproductive technology, and a rigorous investigative program in reproductive biology. Many fellows pursue a Masters degree in Clinical Research during the course of their training.

The three-year fellowship accepts one fellow annually.

 Non-certificate Programs

 Family Planning

The Ryan Family Planning Fellowship prepares obstetrician-gynecologists for a career focused on clinical research and the provision of family planning services. It provides high-level clinical and research skills in family planning services. The program is devoted to formal study of clinical trial methods as well as developing skills in technical aspects of all methods of abortion and contraception.

The two-year fellowship accepts one fellow annually.

 Pelvic Surgery

The Pelvic Surgery Fellowship trains fellows who will become outstanding faculty dedicated to advanced operative gynecological techniques in women's pelvic surgery. Fellows also are prepared to become excellent clinical researchers by combining didactic courses in research methods with a clinical research project mentored by a faculty member active in women's health research.

We seek to provide interested obstetrician-gynecologists extensive clinical training in the evaluation as well as the surgical and non-surgical management of pelvic floor disorders, including urinary and fecal incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse.  The fellowship is designed to train fellows to serve as consultants to generalist obstetrician-gynecologists for complex disorders of the pelvic floor as well as difficult benign pelvic surgery in women.

The department offers one- and two-year fellowships and accepts one to three fellows annually.
