Greetings from the Chair
The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine invites you to learn more about our residency program, our clinical settings, our faculty, and our didactic education curriculum. We are proud to offer the best possible care of our gynecologic and obstetric patients and an outstanding opportunity for new physicians to train as specialists in gynecology and obstetrics.

- Graduated our 522nd Ob/Gyn resident in 2011
- US News & World Reports ranked our Gynecology program #22 in the Nation in 2010
- Ten faculty members named Top Doctors in 2011 Atlanta Magazine
- Sarah Berga, MD, is President of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation
- Robert Taylor, MD, PhD, is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Cyril Spann, MD, is a member of the Residency Review Committee for Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Five faculty members serve on NIH Study Sections
- In 2009-2010, faculty authored or co-authored 52 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 38 books and book chapters
- Emory is ranked 16th nationally in NIH funding with $230 million
- According to US News & World Reports rankings on national research universities, Emory is 20th
- Emory and our department collaborate with the CDC in research and education
- According to High Impact universities rankings (University of Melbourne), Emory is ranked 13th in the medical and health sciences category in the USA
- According to the London Times World universities rankings, Emory is 17th among preclinical, clinical, and health universities

The curriculum provides you with vast opportunities for clinical experience, for expert consultation with faculty and peers at a higher level of training, and for clinical and basic science research at our outstanding hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.
