GREETINGS FROM THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Thank you for your interest in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine. We invite you to learn more about our residency program, didactic education curriculum, clinical setting training experiences, faculty and more. We are proud to offer the best possible care for our patients and an exceptional level of residency training to develop outstanding leaders in gynecology and obstetrics.
We are a nationally recognized program dedicated to excellence in resident education. Our approach starts with seeking top-quality candidates that will contribute to a resident body that is scholastically distinguished, represents a variety of backgrounds, exemplifies professionalism and compassion, and always keeps the highest standards of care for our patients in mind. We incorporate novel educational methods that stimulate thought and enhance learning. Our residents benefit from our varied rotation training sites as well as the diverse patient population of metro Atlanta to optimize the training experience. In addition, our faculty, clinics, and laboratories support an environment that is rich in mentorship and extensive clinical and basic science research opportunities.
We strive to provide a program that fully encompasses the ACGME statement that “residency is an essential dimension of the transformation of the medical student to the independent practitioner along the continuum of medical education. It is physically, emotionally, and intellectually demanding, and requires longitudinally-concentrated effort on the part of the resident.”
Our residents’ growth into accomplished gynecology and obstetrics specialists begins from day one. Our commitment is reflected in the residents’ competencies and milestones to make critical decisions, effectively communicate, perform complicated surgical procedures, and expertly manage a wide range of women’s health issues.
We welcome your interest in our program and look forward to answering your questions regarding our residency program.
