Emory Crawford Long Hospital is a general community hospital with a physician staff made up of a combination of full-time Emory faculty and community physicians. The hospital has a long-standing reputation for providing excellent care to private patients in Atlanta and surrounding areas. The hospital, located in midtown Atlanta, has over 550 beds and a complete outpatient surgical facility. The hospital has modernized and renovated of all of its physical facilities, including a major renovation of the obstetric area. A small number of its hospital beds are reserved for low income gynecologic-obstetric patients who are cared for by members of the resident staff assigned to Emory Crawford Long Hospital.

The use of "mother-father-baby" suites at Emory Crawford Long Hospital exemplifies developmentally supportive care.

This hospital allows the residents to receive part of their training in a facility very similar to those in which they are likely to practice when they complete their training. Residents assist both faculty and private physicians in surgical procedures, gaining valuable experience in all aspects of gynecologic surgery.

Located on the third level of the newly renovated Emory Crawford Long hospital, the birthing center includes 11 labor and delivery rooms, 36 mother-baby suites, and general and special care nurseries, all located on one floor. High risk obstetrical patients are managed in consultation with Emory perinatologists in the Level III nursery.

The Primary Care Gynecology and Obstetrics Division provides general gynecological care for women of all ages, from adolescence to menopause, as well as state-of-the-art obstetric and maternity services: ambulatory care, inpatient hospital care, major and minor surgical care, monitoring for risk factors and health education for patients and the community at large. The Primary Care faculty see patients on the 9th floor of the Medical Office Tower.

The Emory Reproductive Center is located on the eighteenth floor of the Emory Crawford Long Medical Office Tower, 550 Peachtree Street. The new 13,000 square feet of space has an open floor plan, spacious waiting room, two ultrasound rooms, seven exam rooms, an andrology lab, embryology lab, procedure and recovery room and four private consult rooms. The state-of-the-art facility offers on-site high resolution ultrasounds for gynecological and infertility conditions and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. "Our aim was to create a highly efficient, patient-oriented facility that offers the highest possible chance of a successful outcome," Dr. Sarah Berga says. "Already our pregnancy rates exceed the national average by a wide margin. Since our opening in August, our ongoing pregnancy rate has exceeded 50 percent."
