Grady Memorial Hospital is a modern 1,000-bed general hospital administered by the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority and financed primarily by a tax levied on the citizens of Fulton and DeKalb counties for the purpose of providing emergency care for all citizens and general medical care for the low-income population of these two counties.

Residents in training serve as primary physicians for inpatients and outpatients at Grady Hospital. A large number of gynecologic and obstetric patients with a wide variety of problems are seen each day by the residents. In caring for such patients, residents work with diagnostic and therapeutic protocols established by the department. Residents also work in consultation and with supervision by members of the faculty. Great emphasis is placed on maintaining an atmosphere in which questions are asked often and consultations are freely given. Everyone benefits when someone asks a question about how to care for a patient.

The quality of the gynecologic and obstetric patient care program at Grady Hospital is excellent. The Grady patient care program is a large volume, high risk, heavy responsibility program.
